McCreesh Place or Scattered Site Apartments

If you are homeless or believe you will become homeless within the next 72 hours, you should go to a Coordinated Assessment location.

Definition of homelessness: People who are living in a place not meant for human habitation, in emergency shelter (including domestic violence shelter), in transitional housing, or are exiting an institution where they temporarily resided for up to 90 days and were in shelter or a place not meant for human habitation immediately prior to entering that institution.

An initial assessment for all housing options will be conducted at one of Mecklenburg County’s three Coordinated Assessment centers.  Locations and hours are listed below.  Once referred by Coordinated Assessment, a prospective resident will meet with an SHC Housing Specialist.

Scattered Site Housing

Using a Housing First approach, SHC holds a master lease for apartments in the community that are then sub-leased to men, women and familites.  Qualified residents have at least one disabling condition and are chronically homeless. All residents who have income pay 30% of their income.

Residents receive the support they need to rebuild their lives so they will not return to homelessness.
