SHC is providing people who have experienced homelessness with “a place to live again.”
Come experience the community-building that makes SHC unique and learn how it is possible to end homelessness. Homelessness happens to people when they are socially isolated, run out of resources or have no support. The homelessness experience itself can be further isolating.
Creating community connections for formerly homeless men, women and families can mean playing a card game together, offering to share a meal, celebrating birthdays or spending the holidays with our residents. SHC welcomes individual volunteers and groups. Click here to view Volunteer Opportunities.

Volunteer opportunities include, but are not limited to:
Provide ice cream and cake for our residents' monthly birthday celebrations.
Make a holiday special or make any day a holiday with a meaningful event or activity.
SHC McCreesh Place's community garden yields lots of fresh vegetables for our residents, including squash, lettuce, cabbage, bell peppers, okra, and tomatoes. We are continuing to promote healthy lifestyles for our residents with the help of our garden, but we need volunteers to help spread mulch, prepare the soil, plant in the spring and prepare the garden for winter.
Provide a breakfast, lunch or dinner for our residents.
Help with needed building maintenance or landscaping projects.
Front Desk Volunteers
Greet visitors, work alongside the staff and get to know our residents.
Most people think that volunteering is about giving back but the experience really teaches us how to receive. Come and share your talents and skills with the people we serve. It will change your life!
